Our Readsoft licence has expired and we need to update with the new licence (Readsoft Customers)

Updated yesterday

This article will only apply if you are an Access Capture customer with the Readsoft-INVOICES software solution and not using the online Access Capture (readsoftonline) solution.

You should have received a renewal from Access along with a copy of the file license.dat: this file needs to replace your old license.dat on the server which runs the FlexLM 'Readsoft' service.

Note: You may need to request the assistance of your IT to gain access to your internal remote computers.

You should follow these instructions as a guide to replacing (and updating) your license.dat for Readsoft

  1. Download a copy of the new license file you received from Access and rename this to license.dat

  2. Open the file in Notepad

  3. If on the SERVER line you see Change_This type over this text with the Name of the Server which the Readsoft services runs on.

  4. Else, make sure that the ServerName is correct per the Server which the Readsoft services runs on.

  5. Connect to the correct Server with the FlexLM license manager service running, 'Readsoft'

  6. Open File Explorer and browse to C:\FlexLM, where you should see an existing license.dat file

  7. Rename this file to back it up (rename to: such as license.dat_(insertdatehere))

  8. Copy the new license.dat file to this location

  9. Locate the global path

    • This is found: C:\Users\Public\Readsoft\Invoices\GlobalPath\

  10. Rename the existing licence.dat file as per Step 7

  11. Copy the new licence.dat file to this location

  12. Restart the Readsoft, Interpret and Transfer services

  13. Check the FlexLM folder for the debug.log file

  14. Open this in Notepad and ensure there are entries at the last line(s), there the New Licence is running.
